A Mere $6 for Membership, A Lifetime of Trauma. Groomed & Monetized, 4 Victims Rescued

3 Apr 2026

A 28-year-old Thai man has been arrested in a joint operation conducted by the International Protection Alliance (IPA) and Anti-Trafficking in Persons (ATPD) from Division 3 and Division 6. Cases like this is another that highlights how exploitation continues to evolve in digital spaces, and why there needs to be better preventative measures put into place to ensure the safety of children.

The arrest was carried out while the suspect was on duty during a security shift at his workplace. Officers approached him on-site, informed him of his rights, and presented the charges outlined in the arrest warrant.

Search and Seizure of Devices

Following the arrest, authorities escorted the suspect to his residence. He lived in an apartment located not far from his place of work. A search of the premises was conducted, resulting in the seizure of two mobile phones believed to contain evidence relevant to the case. The suspect, initially arrested at the age of 15, is in possession of a firearm and is regarded as a high-risk individual with a potential for violence. During the search, law enforcement discovered a substantial box of condoms, along with various items matching the Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), including bed sheets, blankets, and shirts. Upon arrest, the suspect admitted to all allegations.

The Modus Operandi

Investigations revealed that in early 2026, the suspect had created and managed a private Telegram group used to distribute explicit images and videos of children. Operating as the group’s administrator, he monetized access by charging users 200 baht per membership (approx USD$6).

According to findings, the suspect approached the victims through social media platforms. He would initiate conversations and gradually build a sense of trust. Over time, these interactions developed into manipulation. Victims were persuaded to send nude photos and videos, with some also manipulated into video calls with the suspect.

While the suspect provided payment to the victims, they were not informed of how their content would be used. The material was shared and sold within a private Telegram group without their knowledge or consent. This element of deception combined with financial exploitation forms a critical basis for the charges brought against him.

Victim Identification and Rescue

Prior to the arrest, investigators identified seven potential victims connected to the case. Four young female victims have since been rescued and formally identified as victims of human trafficking. The remaining individuals are currently undergoing processes to receive support, protection, and further assessment.

The Case Moving Forward

Following the search and evidence collection, the suspect was transferred to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) in Bangkok for case processing. He has since been remanded as legal proceedings move forward.

The charges filed against him include human trafficking involving the exploitation of minors under the age of 18 for commercial purposes. This encompasses the production, possession, distribution, and display of pornographic materials obtained through threats, fraud, or abuse of power.
