Mute Man Arrested for Abusing Children and Selling Explicit Content on Social Media

The arrest followed Criminal Court Warrant No. 3723/2568, dated June 23, 2025, on charges of: “Possession of child pornography for the purpose of seeking sexual benefit for oneself or others; forwarding child pornography to others; for the purpose of trade or by trade, for distribution or for public display; making, producing, possessing, importing or causing to be imported into the Kingdom, exporting or causing to be exported out of the Kingdom, taking away or causing to be taken away, or making widespread by any means such child pornography; and human trafficking by seeking benefit from the production or distribution of child pornographic objects or media.”

Evidence seized included one gold Vivo V23 mobile phone. He was arrested in the area of Mueang District, Phatthalung Province.

This arrest occurred because police from Sub-division 6, ATPD, received a lead from the IPA (International Protection Alliance) organization stating that a certain user account on social media had suspicious behavior involving the dissemination of child pornography through the Telegram application and soliciting benefits from individuals wishing to join secret groups. From investigation and placing an undercover agent to join the relevant groups, it was found that within the groups, there was dissemination of child pornography. Some images appeared to show several children and youths in a state of being molested and sexually abused, with images recorded while the offenses were being committed and subsequently disseminated.

In this regard, officials were able to identify and categorize several victims who qualify as victims of human trafficking under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act. There are also a number of other child pornographic images currently under investigation to further identify the victims. Once sufficient evidence was gathered, a request was made for the authority of the Phatthalung Provincial Court to search and arrest the suspect at his residence, along with the evidence used in committing the crimes, during July 16.

From the initial investigation, the suspect confessed to being the owner of the bank account and the person who committed the molestation and sexual abuse of several children. He recorded images while committing the offenses and disseminated them, using a phone to post invitations to join the secret groups.

However, it was found that the suspect is a person with a speech impairment (mute). Testimony was given through a sign language interpreter during the interrogation process. Therefore, the charges were notified before he was taken, along with the evidence, to the inquiry officials of Sub-division 6, ATPD, for further legal proceedings.
